Hiatus

Aside

While I would love to say that I spent the last week on a white sand beach sipping tropical drinks out of a coconut, sadly this is not the case. It was just a very busy week with work, exercise classes, and my personal life. I should be back on a normal schedule this week, even though it’ll still be busy.

Even though I haven’t posted on the blog recently, I have written some haikus and I’ve been reading. I’ll have reviews for Mr. Mercedes and The Girl on the Train posted soon, too. Thanks for sticking with me!

A Recent ‘Wednesday’s Word’ Appearance on TV!

Aside

'Better Call Saul' advertising

If anybody else watches Better Call Saul, one of my recent words from a ‘Wednesday’s Word’ posts was used in the episode that aired last night. About three-quarters of the way through the episode Jimmy, aka Saul, says “kerfuffle” while talking to a couple that wants to hire him.

While I certainly didn’t make the word up, it was a treat to hear it being used. Yay for fun words making a comeback!

Hey there, readers!

Hi there, and thanks for reading Book Reviews & Haikus!

Just wanted to let you know that I’m still hanging around and haven’t forgotten the blog – I’ve just been very busy with work and an HTML course online. My original goal was to write and publish at least one post per day but that gets increasingly difficult with a full-time job, online training courses, trying to read the books I want to review, and life in general.

Anyway, I have one review that should be finalized tomorrow … Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh. I’ll be back on schedule shortly, so bear with me!

Best,
Cassie

Currently Reading: The Signal and the Noise, pt. 2

Aside

Life and work have been busier than expected over the past week so I’m still working my way through The Signal and the Noise. It’s been a fascinating read so far! I’ve finished the first two chapters which document the lack of good predictions in financial sectors prior to the collapse of the US economy in 2008 and [unrelated] the quality of predictions made by political pundits. The third chapter – which I started Tuesday night – discusses predictions in sports, or at least baseball.

In an ideal world, I’d love to finish this before the start of February but … that’s two days away. It’s a very detailed book and I can’t wait to finish it because I’m a nerd for information!

Found: Intro Chapter for an Original Story

Aside

After looking through some computer files tonight, I found an intro chapter to a story from about a year ago that I had forgotten about. I spent some time today trying to come up with a story idea and then this intro fell right into my lap! (Literally…I was on my laptop.)

So I’m going to work on that as minimally a short story but possibly a novel depending on where it goes. I love haikus but branching out is good for the writing muscles!

Happy Holidays!

Aside

Wishing you a very happy holiday season!

I’ve only been blogging for just over a month and I’m so inspired by everyone who has followed my blog – some very talented writers! – and liked my posts. It means so much. Thank you for being a part of my writing process and joining me on this new venture!

Best wishes for a safe and happy new year as well!
