Book Tag: This or That

Beth at The Books Are Everywhere nominated me to do the This or That book tag – thanks so much!

Here are the rules:

  • Mention the creator of the tag (Ayunda @ Tea and Paperbacks).
  • Thank the blogger who tagged you!
  • Choose one of the options.
  • Tag 10 other people to do this tag and spread the love!

Here we go…

1. Reading on the couch or on the bed?

I am guilty of both but on the couch I get to cuddle with my dogs – so I’ll say couch.

2. Male main character or female main character?

I like female main characters if they are well thought out but I don’t enjoy them if the sole purpose is to present a male character and gush over him. I like reading things from a female perspective because I can relate to the point of view more in many situations. But I read a lot of books with male main characters, too.

3. Sweet snacks or salty snacks when reading?

I’ll go with sweet. If I’m going to have snacks while reading (I usually don’t) it’ll probably be chocolate or wine.

4. Trilogies or quartets?

Honestly, I think it depends on the books and how long it really takes to tell the story well. Some of my favorite book series go on for more than four books, so I’ll say quartets. I don’t like giving up my characters once I’m invested.

5. First-person point of view or third-person point of view?

I think this is another one that’s too variable to say one or the other definitively. I have enjoyed both. I think I probably prefer third in general but if the main character is humorous or sassy, first is great too (for example, the portions of The Martian told from Mark Watney’s point of view).

6. Reading at night or in the morning?

At night! There is no way I’m waking up any earlier than I have to, even for reading.

7. Libraries or bookstores?

Libraries. I can check out books on my Kindle for free without having to leave my house!

8. Books that make you laugh or make you cry?

Laugh. I have enough TV shows that make me cry – I prefer my books to be funny or filled with murder.

9. Black book covers or white book covers?

I have no real preference and I read most books on my Kindle. But of the copies on my shelf, it appears that most have black covers so…black?

10. Character-driven or plot-driven stories?

I’m going to say plot-driven, hopefully with good characters. I like a well-crafted plot. For example, the TV show Lost…I hated the ending because there were a lot of unresolved “mysteries” from the island and I had gotten annoyed with a lot of the characters by that point.

And finally, here are the 10 awesome bloggers that I’m tagging…you’re it (if you want to participate)!

Thanks for reading!

~ Cassie
